I’ve been pretty inactive all week, which has been mostly due to a mixture of having to study for numerous midterms and being so deathly ill that I’ve been avoiding any internet activity beyond checking my Gmail when I had free time. I’ve been off as of Thursday night, and have been sleeping for the last two days to try and recuperate. I still have a cough and sinus problems, but I’m pretty much as good as new. I’m off for my March Break until the 22nd, so I should be posting regularly throughout the next week.
Anyways, today I am going with my family to what we Canadians call a “sugar shack”, or “cabane a sucre” in French. It’s basically an outing where we go to the places where maple syrup is processed – there, you’re able to taste fresh maple syrup as it’s being made, and you usually have a big dinner of scrambled eggs, ham, pancakes, baked beans, and lots and lots of maple syrup. I used to go when I was younger with my school, but my family tries to go at least once a year because it’s just so yummy!
In preparation for tonight I was looking at pictures of pancakes, and I thought I would share them since they are just so yummy! Just looking at these pictures made my hunger skyrocket. I can’t wait to taste some of these – yum!

Wooooooah! Those looks soooo yumm! This is why I can’t look at food pictures on the internet… they make me drool and have major cravings! haha.
Oddly enough, I’ve never been to a maple syrup farm. I swear, every field trip we ever went on in elementary school was to the cemetery where the Titanic graves were. Cool the first time, but it gets old. Fast.
The pancakes made my eyes pop and my mouth water. Haha. I love those little heart pancakes!
I also love how the pancakes were “designed” / setup to give a more aesthetically appealing look. Heehee. PANCAKES + BUTTER + MAPLE SYRUP, PLEASE!
Those pancakes all look so yummy and that trip sounds extremely fun! Such a shame I don’t like maple syrup, honey only for me.
Oh my goodness me I am so hungry right now and this jsut made it so much worse! I could practically eat those photos they look so devine!
They have things like that in Canada? Maybe those stereotypes are true (: Not that I don’t love maple syrup, of course, because it’s totally delish :]
Well, I don’t know about the stereotypes, but Quebec is the largest supplier of maple syrup in the whole wold, which means that they’re created a pretty big industry out of it. I’ve been going on “cabane a sucre” field trips since I was a kid, and I’ve been going at least once a year with my family since I was very little. If you ever find yourself in Quebec, Canada, from February-April, I would definitely recommend going to a sugar shack. They’re absolutely yummy!
