Who I Am and What I Love

First off, a little information…

I was born and currently reside in the city of Montreal, which is one of the busiest and liveliest cities in the vast and uninhabited country of Canada. I was given the name Marie – and although I use it, I find it too boring. I came from a divorced family, in which both parents are remarried. I have a sister who is several years younger than me and a half-brother from my father’s side, whom I share a sixteen-year age difference. I am overly sarcastic, annoyingly stubborn and wildly opinionated. I am a person who believes strongly in many things(religion not being one of them), and who can debate to my heart’s content, and am often angered by the world’s many injustices. I am highly pessimistic, have a tendency to criticize myself constantly, and can sometimes not be the best person to screw over, for I seek vengeance if hurt. An as scary as that sounds, I am also an extremely generous and thoughtful person, who will treat people with the utmost kindness and respect if they are nice to me. I am, above everything, an avid dreamer who wishes to see and do as much as possible – this includes living in busy cities such as New York, London, Los Angeles or Paris, and learn more languages, such as Spanish or Russian.

There are oh-so many things that I would like to do with my life, which you can witness for yourself by checking out my list of Lifetime Goals.

And What I Love…

Words…My biggest passion has always been writing. I would like nothing more than to become a professional writer, and to one day make a decent living by publishing fiction novels. At the moment, I have two novels labeled as work in progress, and have a dozen or so more ideas written down for future use. This of course goes hand in hand with the way I spend most of my free time – reading. I read on average two books or week, and never get sick of it. Some of my favorite reads are the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling, Stephanie Plum Novels by Janet Evanovich, A Series of Unfortunate Events by, Lemony Snicket, Wasteland by Francesca Lia Block, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer, Queen of Babble Series by Meg Cabot, Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella, Private by Kate Brian Series, The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides, City of Bones Series by Cassandra Clare, Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, and Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult (actually, anything written by Jodi Picoult).

Television…I watch a lot of television. Too much television. Not because I’m lazy (although that does factor into it), but because I simply love it. I tend to watch on average 10 television shows a week, and my personal laptop is always full of seasons of shows that I am currently watching. I love both dramas and sitcoms, although I do find it easier to become invested in an hour-long television drama. I find good tv to be a rare thing these days, so whenever I find a good shows I tend to hook onto it. Some of my favorite shows are LOST,Criminal Minds, Glee, Dexter, Six Feet Under, House, Veronica Mars, Grey’s Anatomy, The Big Bang Theory, Skins, Friends, Pushing Daisies, Chuck, How I Met Your Mother, Sex and the City, Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl, Scrubs, Charmed, That 70′s Show, Will&Grace, Who’s the Boss, and Three’s Company.

Movies…I also have a strong passion for film, which has mostly caused me to secretly wish I was an actress, although I would definitely settle on working behind the scenes on a movie or television set. When I watch a movie, I don’t just see the film itself but everything that goes on behind it – the direction, the acting, the costumes, the sets – I tried my hardest to take a movie class next fall, but unfortunately it was full. Some of my favorite movies are: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotlesss Mind, The Breakfast Club, Memento, Se7en, Juno, Atonement, The Virgin Suicides, Elephant, The Hangover, Running With Scissors, The Notebook, The Reader, Rent, Hairspray, Inglorious Basterds, An Education, and (500) Days of Summer.

Music…I started playing music in seventh grade when I was placed into music class, and from there learned how to play the saxophone. I play the tenor saxophone, but I can easily switch to alto or baritone since the fingerings are the same. I am now trying to learn how to play the piano, an instrument that I’ve been fascinated with since I was a child. Hopefully, I will one day also learn how to play the guitar. I also completely adore musicals – either on stage, on film, or on television (Glee <3). Music that I love includes The Killers, The Hush Sound, The Beatles, The Dresden Dolls, Paramore, The Veronicas, The Postal Service, Metric, Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman, Brand New, Panic At the Disco, Lily Allen, The Lonely Island, Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, Rent, Wicked, Spring Awakening, Hairspray, Hot Chip, In the Heights, and Glee Covers.

Traveling… One of my favorite things to do is travel. I love sightseeing and visiting other countries. I have been to different parts of the United States and Canada, as well as several countries in Europe. When I am older and have the ability to do so, I plan to visit a different country each year in order to try and discover as much of the world as possible. You can see where I’ve been and where I want to go by checking out this page.

And that is basically what you need to know about me. I’m easily found on the internet, either by e-mail, or by tracking me down at one of my many internet hangouts.
